Volunteer Waiver
Summary
This waiver is to make sure everyone stays safe and on the same page while volunteering at Singh Farms.
It helps us protect you, other volunteers, my family and the farm.
It covers things like using tools, working with equipment, and staying in camper vans.
1. Liability Release
- Volunteers acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with working on a farm, including physical activity, use of tools and machinery, and interactions with animals and natural elements.
- Volunteers release the landowners (Satinder Pal Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Satnam Kaur Singh) and Singh Farms from liability for injuries, accidents, property damage, or loss occurring during volunteer activities or while staying on the farm premises (including camper vans).
2. Assumption of Risk
- Volunteers assume full responsibility for their safety while performing tasks or using machinery.
- Risks include, but are not limited to:
- Operating or being around farm machinery (tractors, tillers, etc.).
- Physical labor (digging, lifting, planting, harvesting).
- Handling tools or sharp objects.
- Environmental hazards (heat, cold, insects, uneven ground).
- Volunteers acknowledge that staying in camper vans may involve risks, such as weather conditions, equipment malfunctions, or accidents, and accept these risks.
3. Machinery Use
- Volunteers may only use machinery if they:
- Have received proper training or certification (if required).
- Have been authorized by farm management to use the equipment.
- Volunteers agree to operate machinery responsibly, wear required safety equipment, and follow all guidelines provided by the farm.
- Volunteers will immediately report any issues with machinery or tools and will not attempt repairs themselves.
- The farm and landowners are not liable for injuries or damages caused by improper machinery use.
4. Camper Van Liability
- Volunteers staying in camper vans provided by the farm:
- Acknowledge that the vans are provided "as-is" and the farm is not responsible for malfunctions or damages during their stay.
- Agree to respect the van and its amenities, keeping it in good condition.
- Understand they are responsible for any damages caused to the camper van during their stay.
- Acknowledge that the farm is not liable for personal belongings left in the camper van or incidents that occur while staying in it.
5. Behavior and Conduct
- Volunteers agree to:
- Follow safety guidelines and instructions.
- Use tools, machinery, and vehicles responsibly.
- Avoid reckless or negligent behavior that could endanger themselves, others, or farm property.
6. Tools, Equipment, and Property
- Volunteers acknowledge that tools, equipment, and vehicles are farm property and must be used only for their intended purposes.
- Volunteers will immediately report any damage or issues with tools, equipment, or vehicles.
- Volunteers agree to respect all farm property, including machinery, camper vans, and crops.
7. Photo/Video Release
- Volunteers consent to being photographed or filmed for marketing or promotional use, or they may opt out.
8. Minors (If Applicable)
- Volunteers under 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian.
- Parents/guardians assume liability for the minor’s participation.
9. Governing Law
- This agreement is governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.
10. Acknowledgment
- Volunteers confirm they have read and understood this waiver and are participating voluntarily.
- Volunteers agree that they will not hold the landowners or farm responsible for any issues arising from their volunteer activities or while staying in camper vans.
11. Emergency Procedures
- Volunteers agree to follow all emergency procedures outlined by the farm.
- Volunteers must report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately to farm management.
- Volunteers understand that in case of an emergency, the farm reserves the right to call emergency services at their discretion.
12. Environmental Responsibility
- Volunteers agree to minimize their environmental impact by disposing of waste responsibly and respecting the farm’s sustainability practices (e.g., recycling, composting).
- Volunteers must avoid disturbing wildlife or damaging crops and natural areas on the farm.
13. Cancellation or Termination
- The farm reserves the right to terminate a volunteer’s participation at any time if they fail to follow rules, endanger themselves or others, or damage property.
- Volunteers agree to leave the premises immediately if asked to do so.
14. Personal Belongings
- Volunteers acknowledge that they are responsible for their personal belongings. The farm is not liable for loss, theft, or damage to items brought to the farm or left in camper vans.
15. Temporary Stay
Volunteers acknowledge that their participation on the farm and any accommodations provided (such as camper vans, space to park, or other facilities) are strictly temporary and conditional upon compliance with the terms of this agreement.
• Volunteers understand and agree that they do not acquire any tenancy rights or claims to the property by staying or working on the farm.
• Volunteers agree to vacate the premises immediately if asked to do so by the farm owners, and failure to comply may result in legal action.
